Michael Michell

Michael Michell earned BA and Masters degrees from the University of Nevada and a Doctorate from Michigan State University. He has been a secondary and post-secondary educator since 1984. He has taught American English and social studies curricula at an alternative high school for at-risk youths and a large urban high school in Nevada, as well as at Singapore American School. He has taught IB English language A and TOK programs at Escola Graduada de São Paulo, The Koç School (Istanbul), and the International School of Amsterdam. He has taught university undergraduates and graduates at Michigan State University and Albion College. From 1987-2000 he was a National Writing Project consultant. At Escola Graduada de São Paulo (2000-05) he created and ran a Writing Center, providing individuals and groups assistance with academic writing and college application essays. Since 2008 he has specialized in the International Baccalaureate MYP and DP English Language and Literature and Literature programs, including the supervision of Personal Projects and Extended Essays.

Michael’s deep and broad knowledge about language, literature, Theory of Knowledge, and the writing process makes him the kind of mentor who is able to help learners develop into confident, skilled, adept thinkers and eloquent communicators. His decades of experience with professional writing, including publishing his own work and serving as an editor of others’ fiction and non-fiction, is an invaluable resource to guide writers of all competencies to achieve their goals.
